What do teachers believe in?

If you went into class and asked the teacher to say what, in teaching terms, they believed in, what answer do you think you would get? What do you believe in, if it comes to that? Do you believe, for example, that all students should be treated equally? If you do, then how does this belief manifest itself in your behaviour in class?

The way we teach must be based on some beliefs. These appear to come from a number of different sources, but which of these is most powerful in influencing our teacher behaviour?
	our view of the world and the society we live in
	the teacher we experienced as students at school
	the activities and materials we like or don't like (and which we use)
	the training courses we are on or have been on
